White chocolate may not be “real” chocolate but it won’t stop me from indulging in several cups of this white hot chocolate!
We turned on our heat yesterday morning. Waking up is already a struggle but when it’s frigid beyond the covers of your bed it’s even worse. I love the transition of summer into fall but when we skip from 80/90s right down to 50/60s I am not happy. It’s too hot to sleep with the windows open most of the time in the summer so I look forward to this time of year but it always end up short lived because it suddenly drops to near freezing at night, causing us to keep the windows closed due to the other spectrum of temperatures. Where are my highs in the low 70s upper 60s? I feel like the same problem happens in the spring, thus making it feel as though the only seasons we have are summer and winter with brief transitions.
Since I am not a coffee drinker I don’t have that nice hot beverage to warm myself up in the morning like everyone else, so I opt for tea or hot chocolate! Along with the dessert cheese ball I most recently shared I also served this white hot chocolate at the baking exchange I hosted this past weekend. Originally I had hoped to set up on the back deck but it was just a bit too chilly without the help of the sunshine since it was shaded at that time of day. I set up this up in a slow cooker to keep it hot and ready for serving throughout the party. You could ever include a little toppings bar or mix-ins.

HOMEMADE WHITE HOT CHOCOLATE
Serves 18 (1 cup/serving)
Ingredients:
18 cups of milk
7 oz. (1/2 can) sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
10 oz. (1-1/4 cups) chopped white chocolate
Marshmallows or whipped cream for topping
Directions:
- Place milk, sweetened condense milk, and heavy cream in a large saucepan over medium heat. Whisk together constantly to avoid scalding. When mixture just starts to boil, remove from heat, add chopped chocolate, and stir until smooth.
- Serve immediately topped with marshmallows or whipped cream. (Can also serve out of a slow cooker set on warm.)
