Stitch Fix

Get ready for your bi-monthly installment of awkward Erin photos! Aka showing you what I got in my latest Stitch Fix while trying not to feel self conscious. I purposely cut my head off every photo because you don’t need to see the expressions I am making haha. Not familiar with Stitch Fix? In short it is like have a virtual stylist who picks out clothing based on your preferences and feedback. You can have fixes sent to you at various frequencies and I have been sticking with every other month because it works better with my budget. For more details on Stitch Fix and how it works, check out my post from December 2014.

November 2015 Stitch Fix 1

This month I was yearning for thick warm sweaters and some fun pieces for fall. Sonjya was my stylist this month and she pulled some great pieces inspired by my Pinterest board. Let’s see what I got…

November 2015 Stitch Fix - THML Tavia Pullover Sweater

1. THML Tavia Pullover Sweater / XS / $68: I kind of have an obsession with stripes this year and was pretty stoked to see the pattern of this top peeking through the pile upon first opening the box. It’s a light weight sweater and I especially love the pattern across the shoulders in the back. It’d probably go great with the olive vest I kept from my last fix too. It is a bit pricey though which has me hesitant but I do have some credits from referring other people so that may help justify it for me.

November 2015 Stitch Fix - Romolo Kienne Metal & Lucite Fringe Necklace

2. Romolo Kienne Metal & Lucite Fringe Necklace / $38: When I first opened this I immediately thought that the lucite pieces were supposed to be removed, as if there for protection during shipment, but upon closer examination realized that they were meant to stay there. I gave it a chance but honestly I think the lucite just makes it look cheap. While I am not opposed to plastics or mixed materials in my jewelry (in fact I embrace it), in this case it just wasn’t working. The overall design concept was on point though, definitely a style I would wear. RETURN.

November 2015 Stitch Fix - Skies are Blue Evana Cardigan

3. Skies are Blue Evana Cardigan / XS / $68: This was one big comfy cardigan that I could feel cozy in no matter the situation. I’m not normally a fan of cable knit but I did enjoy the mix of the two fabrics together in one. That being said, I already own a couple big chunky cardigans and probably shouldn’t drop that much money on another one. True I did request a long cardigan this month but I was hoping for one with elbow patches. RETURN.

November 2015 Stitch Fix - Skies are Blue Arminta Mixed Material Top

4. Skies are Blue Arminta Mixed Material Top / XS / $48: This was a fun top and enjoyed the way the second fabric was brough into the back. I kind of wish the cuffs on the sleeves were different but that’s a small nick picky thing. I am short on long sleeve tops and I think this one could be easily dressed up or down so this is another possibility.

November 2015 Stitch Fix - 41Hawthorne Masie Faux Leather Panel Pencil Skirt

5. 41Hawthorne Masie Faux Leather Panel Pencil Skirt / S / $68: I was so stinking stoked to see that Sonjya managed to sneak this skirt into my fix this month as I had actually pinned this very one. Unfortunately this photo does not do it justice, probably because the fabric of the shirt I tucked into it is bunched up and the skirt was a bit too big. Mwa mwa… I am slightly tempted to find a way to make it work but at the same time I don’t really need to spend $68 on a skirt that I’d need to fiddle with to make work. Blah, someone keep your eyes peeled for a faux leather pencil skirt for me, mk thanks?!

Update: I actually found a faux leather skirt on Sears.com for $15! Victory!

November 2015 Stitch Fix 11

And just because I love you, here’s a classic shot of me. Nevermind the fact that it’s out of focus, you get the idea. But hey that top looks kind of fun with the skirt does it not? Feel free to help me rationalize whether these pieces should be part of my wardrobe or if I should send them back in hopes that they find a better home.

Okay, opinion time. This time I think your stylist nailed it – everything looks good on you, IMO. That said, if the pencil skirt doesn’t fit the way you want it to, return it. And no need to keep the cardigan either. Ditto for the cheap-looking necklace. My favorite piece, by far, is that striped top. And my favorite photo is the last one… ????
