Turn your favorite non-alcoholic cocktail from your childhood into an adult beverage with the addition of amaretto.
Today marks many things. First, it’s the second-to-last day for one of my coworkers before she leaves us for another job in Wisconsin. Since we have a lab meeting tomorrow we will be venturing out for lunch today despite the clouds/chance of rain. Thankfully we don’t have to panic too much about cramming in as much time with her as possible because she has a boyfriend here in Columbus which will have her coming back to visit very frequently. I told him it’s a good thing we paid him, which got a good laugh.
Secondly, today is two of my friends’ and former lab-mates-in-crime birthdays! I used to bake crazy birthday concoctions for their birthdays every year and they usually involved peanut butter and chocolate because they were smart like me and realized it is one of the best combinations ever created. Last year was the first year of our separation and I actually mailed them both birthday goodies. This year however, I slacked off… sorry! How about a toast instead for both events? And not the crispy bread kind with butter on top, but a cool fruity alcoholic beverage. I made you all an adult version of a Shirley Temple but it’s not too crazy boozy because I only used amaretto. Feel free to spike with vodka is you’re feeling extra sassy today.
P.S. Ever since ZipList went under I’ve been on the hunt for a new recipe box sharing option for you all and it seems like I’ve finally found one – Yummly! I am now officially a publisher on Yummly which means you use the “Yum button” (located on the left hand side and at the bottom of each post along with other sharing options) to save recipes to your personal recipe box. Also be sure to check out my Yummly page to easily find and “Yum” my recipes. Happy yumming!

Hello new favorite drink! :)
Heck yea ;-)
You are welcome!
Yes, it looks like print-friendly!! Well done!!
Victory is mine!! Thanks for bearing with me and being my guinea pig ;-)
But I see you’ve changed away from ‘Print Friendly’, and there is now no way to directly print only the recipe… I think I’m turning into a complainer. Sorry about that. I just get very frustrated by blogs that don’t have a way to print just the recipe. But if this works better for you, I’ll shut up and bear with it.
Never fear there is still a print button! There’s a little printer shaped icon grouped along with the rest of the sharing options that work the same as the former “printer friendly” button. I was trying to clean up all the sharing/saving options by lumping them all together instead of using different codes for each. I totally get it though cause I love the printer friendly option for myself when saving recipes on blogs I read! Let me know if you have any trouble with it.
Ugh wait, you’re right it is different. I though when I first tried it it still gave the option for print versus PDF but it’s not showing that option now. I’m reinstalling the “Printer Friendly” button.
Yay!!!!! :-D Thank you!
I want to try something real quick. Try clicking the printer looking icon at the bottom of the post now. Does it pull up the print/PDF view? It is on my end but I want to make sure it works for you too.
Wonderful. That’s much better. Thank you!
I’ll look forward to using Yummly! I was not happy with ZipList going under, and have been doing without an online recipe box since then. If there’s a way to make the Yum button bigger that would be very helpful – I had a really hard time finding it, and at least for me, it’s not easy to read.
Your Sassy Shirley Temple sounds great. Something to consider making, since I was never allowed to have one (the virgin kind) when I was a child.
I am definitely working on getting the Yummly button to be more visible. The one I have now is their basic one provided from their website for publishers but I am sure there are bigger ones elsewhere. I’m excited to have filled the void that ZipList left behind!
I’ve added larger buttons to the bottom of each post as well as the left hand side along with other sharing options. Hope that helps!
Love the amaretto- and the name of this cocktail! So fun :)
