Your favorite black and blue flavors come together in this salad with the addition of tart green apple and toasted nuts.
Nothing beats a thick slice of bacon cooked in a perfectly seasoned cast iron skillet (likely seasoned with years of bacon grease). And then I put it on top of a salad. What the heck Erin.
I’ve been craving a black and blue burger for a few days but I was too lazy to make one at home so I decided to change up my weekly salad conglomerate instead. Normally I just throw in a random assortment of whatever veggies, proteins, fruits, and/or cheeses leftover from recipes that week. This time I purposely set aside ingredients to make this salad black and blue burger inspired salad – romaine and mixed spring greens topped with the obvious bacon, cracked black pepper, and blue cheese dressing.
I took it a step further and added other things I thought paired well with the combo such as toasted walnuts and sliced green apple. Of course I then did the wrong thing when trying to decide on a name for this salad by Googling the ingredients only to discover that this is not a new salad combination. Debbie Downer. Oh well, that just means my taste buds arn’t crazy and maybe you will like this too.
