Review: Dining Out at Home Cookbook 2

by Erin

For those of you familiar with Stephanie Manely of CopyKat.com, you know that she specializes in recreating dishes from your favorite restaurants at home. She also put together a cookbook called the “Dining Out at Home Cookbook”ย to further pursue restaurant favorites in the home for less. Today I am sharing a review for the sequel called “Dining Out at Home Cookbook 2”.

In her second cookbook, she hares copycat recipes for Starbucksโ€™ frappuccinos, Loganโ€™s Roadhouse Loaded Potato Skins, Olive Gardenโ€™s baked pasta romana, Coldstone Creameryโ€™s cake-batter ice cream, and many more.

The first recipe I had to make was Panera’s Macaroni and Cheese. I don’t frequent Panera often (or any dining out options honestly), but their man and cheese is a true weakness. The white cheddar flavor and crazy creaminess is so hard to resist! And it may be even more dangerous that I now know how to create it at home. It was supposed to make four servings – yea that didn’t happen.

The next recipe I trued was Carrabba’s Chicken Bryan. Unfortunately I have never had it before so I cannot tell you how it compares, but if the restaurant version is anything like the one I made, then it’s really good! I loved how the goat cheese melted a little over the top of the warm chicken. I also served mine over whole wheat orzo.

Finally, I took a bold step and made Denny’s Fried Cheese Melt, which is a grilled cheese with mozzarella sticks inside of it and marinara sauce on the side for dipping. In other words it was a fried cheese lover’s dream sandwich. Apparently I was on a cheese binge when selecting recipes from this cookbook to make!

The only thing I missed from this cookbook was pictures, but I suppose since the recipes are copycat’s from known and loved restaurants, what they look like should already be known by the person looking to recreate their favorite dining out dish!

Disclosure: I was provided with a complimentary copy of this cookbook by Beth Cook Publicity. I was not compensated for this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
