About a month ago (February 2012), Jackie and Adrienne of Culinary.net invited me to be a monthly guest blogger in the desserts category of their website. How perfect is that? I enjoy this kind of assignment.

I decided to start my monthly blogging with Culinary.net with a birthday celebration cookie for Oreo’s 100th birthday, using their Limited Edition Birthday Cake Oreos. These birthday cake creme flavored Oreos were stuffed into birthday cake cheesecake cookies rolled in sprinkles for the ultimate birthday cookie.

Fast forward to 2022 and sometime since I first published this recipe, the section of their website on which it was hosted no longer exists. Never fear, I have transferred the recipe to my page along with some updated photos.

You may think they look raw on the top part above the Oreo inside. To be honest, they might be a bit under-baked but that’s how I like them! Feel free to bake a little longer if you prefer. Either way, they are an sugar-load of cookie worthy of a birthday celebration.

Yield: 2 dozen Prep Time: Cooking Time:
Nutrition facts: 200 calories 20 grams fat

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 4 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1-1/2 cups plus 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 egg + 1 egg yolk
  • 1-1/2 tspย vanilla extract
  • 2 Tbsp 2% milk
  • 2/3 tsp salt
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2-1/4 tsp baking powder
  • Rainbow sprinkles
  • 2 dozen birthday Oreos

Directions

  1. In a stand mixer or large bowl with electric hand mixer, mix ingredients in order one at a time (except sprinkles and Oreos) until fully incorporated. Cover and chill dough in refrigerator for one hour.
  2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Pour sprinkles into a small bowl. Shape dough into 1-inchd balls (I used a small cookie scoop to ensure they were all the same size). Place Oreo between two dough balls and shape dough around Oreo, sealing the edges. Roll in the sprinkles and place 3 inches apart on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 10 minutes or until just starting to turn golden on the edges.
  3. Let cool slightly before transferring to wire rack to cool completely.

Hi Jessica, I tried searching Pins of this recipe to see if anyone had left feedback there but unfortunately not. I know you are looking for more validation than just from myself but if it helps, I use the base of this cookie dough recipe A LOT and it’s a solid recipe in my rotation.

Sorry it was not clear. Using two balls of dough, place one on each side of the Oreo and smush to seal around it. I will update the directions!

These are cute and my grandsons will think I walk on water when I make these for them. This is my first visit to your blog, so I spent some time browsing through your earlier posts. I’m so glad I did that. I really like the food and recipes you share with your readers and I’ll definitely be back. I hope you have a great day. Blessings…Mary

My husband and I looked for those oreos in our store today and they didn’t have them! :( These look great!

How sad! They were on an end-cap display, not on regular shelves if that helps. But of course you could make these with any version of Oreos.

I saw a package of these at the store today and picked them up remembering seeing this recipe yesterday. I’m going to make these this week, so excited. :-)

I love Oreos but haven’t bought any since they stopped making them here and import them from China. Not enough confidence yet. :)

However, your Birthday Cake Oreo Cheesecake Cookies are so cute!!!

Mmmm, great idea, those look fantastic!! I just bought a package of the birthday Oreos this week :) I loved the way they smelled, but I wasn’t blown away by the flavor so I incorporated mine into something too.

Maybe if they were double stuffed the flavor of the creme in the middle would’ve been more obvious.
