Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate with Oreo Crumbs

by Erin

Of all the chocolate things that are made better by adding peanut butter, it never occurred to me to do the same to hot cocoa. So after seeing this recipe, I knew that it would be mine. And it was as dreamy as I had imagined. I even extra peanut butter-ified it by using peanut butter Oreos. What would have been even more splendid is if I had had some peanut butter marshmallows. Do they exist? If not I need to make them. Or better yet, someone make them for me, please?

This is also the first time I’ve used my Spiffy Cookie mug for anything! More pictures of it can be seen on Facebook.

PEANUT BUTTER HOT CHOCOLATE WITH OREO CRUMBS

1/3 cup homemade hot cocoa mix (or 1 envelope store-bought mix)

1 cup hot milk

1 Tbsp creamy peanut butter

1 Oreo cookie, crushed

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a mug and enjoy!

Woah, peanut butter in hot chocolate? Why haven’t I ever thought of that? It’s genius! Hot chocolate is just about the only hot beverage I’ll drink and I’m definitely bookmarking this one for the long winter ahead.

I want to say I think I have seen peanut butter marshmallows at the store? But I may be getting confused with caramel ones. They are coming out with the randomest varieties now! Anyway, this sounds totally delicious. My only problem is that the weather around here is still too hot to even dream of drinking hot cocoa… I will have to save this for the cold weather once it hits :)

I don’t know about peanut butter marshmallows, but they’ve got pumpkin spice ones! http://bakingbites.com/2011/10/pumpkin-spice-marshmallows-reviewed/

Also, did you find that you had to stir the cocoa a lot to get the pb to dissolve? I was just drooling over…I mean, thinking about making this, and that’s the one question I had. :) Yummm!

I did know they had pumpkin ones! Need to try those as well.

Good question because I wondered the same thing before I made it. I did have to stir it a lot but it’s worth it.

Hmmm…I’ve never been able to even tolerate the smell of hot cocoa since I was little, but maybe this’d change that. I know my kids would love it!

Oh goodness I must try this! I think I’ve mentioned my love for peanut butter (I love your peanut butter hummus) and I love this idea. Hot cocoa + Peanut Butter + Oreos = DELICIOUS!

I’m so glad you liked my pb hummus! I think you’re the only one bold enough to try it so far :-)
